Directorate General

Director General, being the operational head is responsible for the following:
  • Assist Secretary, Population Welfare Department in apprising the Chief Minister/Minister, Chief Secretary and Chairman Planning & Development Board regarding Population Welfare activities
  • Act as executive head of the program and exercise powers delegated
  • Supervise the program operations and take corrective measures for effective and efficient functioning of the program
  • Formulate plans and prepare strategies for implementation of various components/activities, policies of the program
  • Ensure maintenance of required stock level of contraceptives, medicines and other commodities in the field
  • Strengthen coordination with NGOs for carrying out population welfare activities
  • Ensure training of program and non-program functionaries
  • Evaluate Population Welfare Program and make proposals for further improvement of the program
  • Assist the Secretary in all issues related to devolved institutions

Logistic & Management Information System (LMIS)

A computerized LMIS system for contraceptive procurement and logistic arrangement is operational in the department. The Provincial Cell of the LMIS established at the Directorate General acts as a bridge between Central Warehouse and Supply Unit Karachi, and the district offices PWD Punjab. The objective of cLMIS is to provide central, district and service delivery outlets level stock sufficiency, consumption, inventory management, storage and distribution data of family planning products. District Offices

 
The 36 District Offices are directly under the control of Director General. 121 Tehsil Offices, the service delivery outlets, namely Family Health Clinics, Men Advisory Centers, Mobile Service Units, Family Welfare Centers, and the training centers located  in the Family Health Clinics and the Men Advisory Centers, i.e. the Family Health Training Centers and the Men Advisory Training Centers are under the administrative control of the District Offices.
